Tourism

The town is a hiking/walking tourists pradise in that two national trails go through the town, Glyndwrs Way is a trail that follows the footsteps of Welsh Prince Owain Glyndwr during his revolution against Norman invaders.

The other more famous trail is The Offa's Dyke Path which follows the dyke from Chepstow to Prestatyn passing through Knighton hence the name the "town on the dyke/Tref y Clawdd". The Offa's Dyke Centre is a good information centre about the Dyke, local history and is well worth a visit.

The Spacegaurd Centre is another attraction that is well worth a visit, it was once known as The Powys Observatory but was took over by the government to trace rather large asteroids and comets that may be a threat to life on Earth. It is open to the public and has other attractions.

Shopping

You can get most basic things whilst browsing around Knighton's Shops, there are a selection of cloths, ironmongers, banks, electrical, flower, antique, book, chemist, post office and charity shops in town. There are 3 Supermarkets one small, one medium (with bakery attached) and a large one( multi-storey car park and petrol station). A wide range of cafe's, takeaway's and restuarants.

Sports / Leisure

Knighton provides a wide range of leisure pursuits and sports, and is especially known as a centre for walking holidays.The town boasts a Leisure Centre with indoor swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, fitness suite and fast tanning sunbeds. A golf club with a nine hole golf course enjoys panoramic views over the town. Other sports locations in the town include a Bowling Club, Cricket/Hockey Clubs and Soccer/Rugby Clubs. At Knighton Communty Centre there is badminton and Snooker clubs. A short drive away by car, bus or train is pony trekking, quad biking, rally driving centre, shooting, fishing or you can even try your hand at Painting at the Mill. The Spaceguard Centre houses many attractions for adults and children alike as does the Offa's Dyke centre and play park.

Nightlife

There are six local pubs which can sometime be quite lively especially when there is a function at the Community Centre which hosts the monthley NRG's and Ultimates which attract sometimes hundreds people for a nightout. Carnival Night,The last Saturday in August is the main party night when just not hundreds decend on the town for a night out, but thousands. There are normally several different functions at different venues on this night. The Knighton Hotel Function Room hosts dances regulary during the weekend and normally attracts a couple of hundred people for a night out.

Events

Knighton Carnival & Agricultural Show always on last Saturday in August, this is probably Knighton's Main Event as it attracts thousands of people each year.

Most Thursday's there are livestock markets at the auction yard in Bowling Green Lane.

The Town's traditional Town Crier in his colourful attire can be heard ringing his bell and announcing forthcoming events such as:
